The best Instagram-worthy spots in West Sussex

  1.  Kingley Vale – this nature reserve boasts one of the finest yew forests in Western Europe, including a grove of ancient trees that are some of the oldest living things in Britain. Head to the top of the vale for breathtaking views across the region – on a clear day you can see the Isle of Wight and Chichester Harbour.
  2.  Devil’s Dyke – walkers, mountain bikers, thrill seekers and nature lovers converge on Devil’s Dyke in the heart of the South Downs National Park to take in the stunning scenery. This is one of the most iconic beauty spots in West Sussex and is well worth a snap or two.
  3.  Petworth House and Park– the impressive Petworth House and Deer Park is located in the pretty market town of Petworth. The grand 700-acre estate and stately mansion house dominate the landscape, and with grounds landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown, it’s easy to see why it tops visitors’ to-do lists when visiting West Sussex.
  4.  High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – this ancient landscape is the perfect place if you’re looking for peace, tranquillity and scenery that will take your breath away. Expect rolling hills, woodland walks and sweeping farmland as far as the eye can see.
  5.  West Wittering beach – white sandy beaches, vast sand dunes, multi-coloured wooden beach huts and big skies. West Wittering is the stuff of Instagram dreams. Visitors come from all over the region to experience this little piece of beach heaven not far from Chichester.
  6.  Chanctonbury Ring – located along the South Downs Way, Chanctonbury Ring is a famous West Sussex landmark. Jill is still an authentic working corn windmill that you can visit at certain times of the year. Bring a picnic and your camera, it’s a stunning spot in the heart of the South Downs National Park.
  8.  Balcombe Viaduct – visitors coming by train may well have travelled over the viaduct on their way into West Sussex, but this feat of engineering and design is even more jaw-dropping up close. It dominates the surrounding countryside and is a must-see for anyone who loves architecture. It’s sure to get you plenty of likes on Instagram.
  9. Pulborough WildArt Trail – Immerse yourself in nature and follow a wild trail through Pulborough’s village and countryside, discovering the wildlife sculptures to guide your way. Don’t miss the stunning views across the wetlands of Pulborough Brooks.
