West Sussex and the South Downs are virtually on London’s doorstep, so getting here couldn’t be simpler. In an hour you could have left the hustle and bustle of the capital far behind.
There are direct train services from Victoria and London Bridge. There are also good connecting cross-country services and excellent road links.
If you are planning to visit us by train, it pays to book in advance. Return travel with Southern Rail can cost as little as £10.
You can bring your bike on the train, but do be aware that at peak times i.e. between 07:00 and 10:00 and 16:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday, Southern Rail won’t allow non-folding cycles to be carried on their main routes. For all other trains, regular cycles may be carried, although bike space is limited and cannot be reserved. For more information, visit the Southern Rail website. You may also want to check out the schedule of planned engineering works before you book, to ensure your journey is as smooth as possible.
The Arun Valley Community Rail Partnership's online map will show you the connections around the County.
