With top-end bikes, skilled staff on hand to answer any questions, repair shop, accessories and more, head here if you’re serious about getting in the saddle on the South Downs.
  5. Bradshaw & Lloyd, Hurstpierpoint – it’s all about British-made shoes in this shop that’s located in the quaint village of Hurstpierpoint. Expect quality made shoes at reasonable prices – the own-label hand-crafted Bradshaw & Lloyd Chelsea Boots are one of the shop’s best sellers.
  6. Steyning Bookshop, Steyning – book lovers will be in their element in this small, family-run bookshop in the beautiful Sussex downland market town of Steyning. This is a truly independent bookshop that stocks a wide range of books for all ages and interests.
  7. Design Vintage, West Stoke – you’ll find super stylish interiors and homewares in this beautiful shop located in a converted barn just outside Chichester. Vintage finds nestle amongst modern design pieces and chances are, you’ll want them all.
  8. Cocoa Loco, Horsham – it’s all about organic, fairtrade, ethical chocolate at this Horsham institution. Buy online or visit the incredible shop and chocolate café in Horsham. Willy Wonka has nothing on this place. 
  9. Ginger & Dobbs, Shoreham-by-Sea – a local greengrocer, café and stockist of covetable ceramics and glassware, Ginger & Dobbs is a pleasant place for lunch, located just off the High Street in Shoreham-by-Sea. Expect well-priced, seasonal local produce and a warm welcome.
  10. Retro Daisy, Worthing – Worthing has a handful of cool, independent shops to browse. Retro Daisy is a vintage emporium that stocks clothes inspired by the 1950s retro pin up style. You’re certain to find a one-off piece here that you won’t see anywhere else.
