Home to the South Downs, West Sussex is the ideal place to get away from it all. You’ll be taking in some of the freshest air and most inspirational views. There’s so much to admire, you won’t want your trip to end.
To get the best of the views, put on your walking boots or running shoes and head for the hills. The vistas from the top of the South Downs to the Surrey Hills and out to sea are utterly spectacular. And let’s not forget the reward of the downhills too.
You can hike or run along the ridge of the South Downs, take a circular route connecting classic English villages, or explore the miles of footpaths and bridleways that criss-cross open countryside. We also have guided walks, to help you experience the best of everything. If you are a thru-walker taking the 100-mile challenge, do stop off for a well-earned meal, a refreshing drink or an overnight stay.
If you’re a mountain biker, you’ll be in your element here. There are superb off-road tracks among rolling chalk hills, as well as miles of trails and bridleways criss-crossing the surrounding countryside. If you’re a road cyclist, you might be up to the challenge of two of the toughest hill climbs in the country.
The West Sussex Coast offers more than just great views and a lovely location from which to enjoy a day by the sea. There are a huge range of water sports on offer and whether you are an experienced professional, an individual, a group looking to try something new, there is plenty to do. From outdoor swimming and sunbathing, to boat trips, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and adrenaline-packed activities like super-fast inflatable adult water rides, there truly is something for everyone.
